February 2023 Monthly Newsletter

January 26, 2023

From My Window

Health Newsletter Article

This month’s issue of the “Mayo Clinic Health Letter” contains an article about widowhood with a sidebar titled “Harriet’s Story.” The sidebar details some of the ways I coped with my husband’s death in 2020—getting a grief buddy, daily self-care, and de-stressing with doodle art. I’m grateful to Mayo for publishing the article about John and me and all who read it. John, a Mayo Clinic Emeritus Staff member, was my biggest fan and source of inspiration. He continues to inspire me.

Reviews

One of the best ways to help an author is to write a review. You may also tell relatives and friends about books you’ve enjoyed. Though many of my books have won awards, I still need reviews. A short, concise review (three sentences or so) can be powerful and moving. Please learn about the following books and post a customer review on Amazon. Thanks for your kindness and help.

My New Book Cover

Graphic artist Rebecca Lown just finished the cover of my forthcoming book, Winning: A Story of Grief and Renewal and I love, love, love it! The cover is

artistic, upbeat and eye-catching. Even better, Lown’s design symbolizes the contents of the book.

I’m so glad Rebecca Lown designed my cover. The New York City-based artist graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and studied printmaking and painting there. Lown has been designing book covers for more than 20 years. She focuses on covers because she feels the process is more creative than other types of graphic design.

“I’ve always been a big reader so the fusion of books and design made total sense,” she explained in an email.

As for design trends, Lown thinks covers will have more of an illustrative approach and lots of handwritten type. Watch for Lown’s design predictions and the cover of Winning, slated for fall release. For more information about this designer please visit www.rebeccalowndesign.com.
